With a total population of 1.6 million people, its no surprise that there's a huge variety of Nashville jobs. The city is nicknamed The Athens of the South for a reason: the vast array of schools and colleges - most notably Vanderbilt University - that are fundamental contributors to the local economy and produce graduates who want to stay in the city. Nashville is a huge contributor to the Tennessee economy because it has just over 26 percent of the state's population.
Nashville has the most job openings in the state for everyone from the recently graduated to the experienced after Memphis and Knoxville respectively. With a quarter of the state's population and almost a third of the state's income revenue, and 0.5 candidates per job opening, there's a huge window of opportunity for job seekers.
Nashville is most famous for its music, and the nickname Music City reflects that. As a result, this relatively modest city had 14.5 million visitors in 2017, partly thanks to the solar eclipse and various performances at Bridgestone Arena. This has a major impact on hotels in the region, with regular bookings ensuring plenty of jobs - particularly around arenas where concerts are held.
Construction also has a major part in the NashvilleConstructors are building or planning to build 14,785 hotel rooms across the city, and they have other projects as well.
Yet Nashville isnt all about tourism. Healthcare, manufacturing and retail also play a major part, with Vanderbilt University Medical Centre employing more than 20,000 people in the national region. Nissan North America employs around 10,700 people just south of Nashville in Franklin and Smyrna, as it produces around 2,000 vehicles per day.
HCA Healthcare comes third with just over 10,600 employees. Of the top 10 largest employers in the area, five are healthcare companies. However, there are major opportunities in retail and insurance.
Like most cities, Nashville has a huge variety of opportunities, and its low unemployment rate and significant impact on the area ensure that Nashville jobs are plentiful.
